BIOGRAPHY

Jaxon Cox is a graduate student who specializes in classical cello. With a variety of experience in teaching and performing, Jaxon is a passionate musician who strives to bring the beauty of classical music to a wider audience. Currently, Jaxon is pursuing a Masters in Music Performance at Denver University, with the goal of becoming a cello professor and performing professionally. If you're looking to learn the cello or need a talented musician for your event, Jaxon is the perfect choice.

About Me

Jaxon Cox is a music performance major at the University of Denver with of goal becoming a professional and well studied cellist. He began his graduate studies in 2025 and plans continue his education for a D.M.A. after finishing his masters degree. His studies require him to play with a multitude of groups ranging from trios to symphony orchestras.

 

Outside of his collegiate studies, he is the assistant principal cellist for the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra and the associate principal cellist for the Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra. During his free time, he teaches cello lessons and can be found arranging and recording music for Big Awkward Guitar and his church.

"I chose music because growing up playing cello made a huge impact on my life. I want to provide my students with that opportunity and I want to share my love for music with anyone who is willing to listen." Jaxon received, and continues to receive, pedagogical training and experience that allowed him to start the Cox Cello Studio in 2022. He is registered with the Suzuki Association of America and is pursuing certification.

Big Awkward Guitar is a music channel for those who love instrumental covers and other arrangements featuring the cello. From Baroque classics to modern bops this is the music for you. Jaxon arranges and performs all of his compositions and the YouTube link can be found below.

M.M. Music Performance, Cello
University of Denver

Jaxon is currently pursuing a M.M. Music Performance (Cello) degree at the University of Denver. This is a pivotal milestone in his musical education. He plans to continue on to doctoral study in performance and build a career as a university cello professor. This program helps Jaxon become a Suzuki-Certified teacher.

2021-2025

B.M. Music Performance, Cello
University of Wyoming

The B.M. Music Performance with emphasis in Cello degree at the University of Wyoming is a prestigious and economic part of Jaxon Cox's higher education. Jaxon graduated in Spring 2025 and is well on his way to becoming a professor of cello. Along the way he had many opportunities to perform as a soloist and chamber musician, and to develop a teaching philosophy.

Laramie High School

Jaxon Cox graduated high school and chose to continue his education in cello. He loves music and is passionate about sharing it with others. His opportunities in summer camps, high school orchestra leadership, and audition-only honor orchestras over many years has prepared him to teach and direct young cellists to success.
